IRINA CHARNY

BIOGRAPHY

Irina is a self-taught mosaicist. She appreciates the history and theory of the medium, and so builds a unique and personal art form on the base of classical mosaic art. In addition to traditional mosaic tessera, she incorporates unusual materials - mirror, pebbles, found objects, beads, buttons, wire, handmade ceramic pieces, and broken plates. She brings experience in ceramics, lampworked glass, and polymer clay to her mosaics.

Born in Russia, Irina now lives in California. She has been making mosaics professionally for over a decade and her work has been published in several books and featured across the country.
