Que No Hablan Las Plantas"
Karine Boulanger was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1963, to a French father and a Bolivian mother. She studied painting in Bolivia with Gonzalo Rodriquez, then at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Paris with Leonardo Cremonini.
Taking inspiration from her Latin American roots, Karine often creates images from her imagination which reflect memories from her cultural heritage.
Her classical training is reflected in the glowing gold and silver backgrounds of her current work. It resembles the use of gold by the Byzantines, a presence of something more spiritual, a symbol of light like inner freedom.
Karine has held many solo exhibitions in Europe and the Americas since 1991.
She currently works and resides in Australia.
