RICHARD
NEWILL Born
and raised in the Dawson area of Fayette County, PA., Rich Newill resides
with his wife, Ronnie, near Johnstown, PA. He developed a love for creating
art at an early age, but did not begin his professional career until
he was in his forties. He is best known for his realistic still lifes,
with a strong sense of composition and rich, sensuous use of color. Even as a child growing up, Rich wanted to be an artist. Sure, just like other kids, he dreamed of being a cowboy or a baseball player, but he knew he would be an artist. Newill maintains an active studio in his home where he paints and explores the never-ending possibilities of painting techniques. Many of his works are among the holdings of private collectors in scattered locations around the country. His
works have won "Best of Show" awards, "Most Popular"
awards and many "First Place" and "Top Honors".
He belongs to many art clubs in his area and most recently was accepted
into The American Artists Professional League, one of the most prestigious
art Clubs in New York City. In November of 2006, his painting "The
Brass Teapot" was in the Seventy-Eight Grand National Exhibition
at the Salmagundi Club in New York City. Recently had a very successful
exhibit at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington,Pennsylvania. "My challenge as an artist is to find beauty in what others may overlook or even consider mundane. I want to give the viewer plenty to see in my work. A good painting can evoke all the senses, not just sight. The more senses a painting activates, the more interesting it is, and some can be so vivid as to make the viewer believe that he or she can almost touch, taste or smell it. Good details make a painting a feast for more than just the eyes." "With
so many things in the world to make us uncomfortable, I want my art
to provide the viewer a feeling of serenity. Those small intimate moments
of life. And one final note, Life is ever so precious. Every single
moment should be blessed and lived to the fullest. Embrace life with
passion and follow your dreams, regardless of the odds."
