Chuck Joseph

Self- taught artist Chuck Joseph discovered his artistic talent at an early age. As a young child, raised in Orange County, he was fascinated with sketching people and coastal scenes. Later in his teen years he began working with oil and acrylic paints. His father was a very gifted craftsman who sculpted both fine art and furniture.

Joseph is inspired by controversial and eccentric art. In an effort to be non-conforming, Chuck Joseph keeps his distance from the art scene to both protect and perfect his style. He created only commissioned work until 2008. Since then his work has been featured in numerous exhibitions throughout the United States.

Joseph likes challenging traditional perceptions of art by experimenting with alternative media. His early work utilized unconventional materials and techniques such as wood carving, metal and torching. His debut collection was called "Torched." Exotic wood was the backdrop, as he created the subject using both acrylic paint and torching. Chuck has continued to expand his artistic vision and sometimes incorporates vintage images, maps and postcards onto his canvases. He embeds the vintage material along with his own photography and then paints the subject matter in oil. Using primarily palate knives, he creates a unique texture with a modern edge.

Chuck Joseph strives to create artworks that are beautiful, unique, and interesting. His work does not focus on any one particular subject. He gathers inspiration from diverse experiences, far-away places and his surroundings.

In 2018, Chuck Joseph relocated from his home in Southern California to Nevada with his wife and dogs, where he currently resides and continues to create unique work.
